Madison County Jailer
Steve Tussey

The county Jailer is responsible for the care, custody, and control of the inmates assigned to the Madison County Detention Center by the court system and local law enforcement.

Steve is a 40 year veteran of the corrections industry, retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after a 30 year career, and as a correctional consultant and trainer for the past 10 years.

The Jailer accomplishes this task by maintaining an appropriate number of sworn deputies. These deputies are one of the counties law enforcement agencies with the authority and responsibility to protect the citizens of Madison County, both at the jail and throughout the community and state as needed.
