2017 Detention Court ArticleWhere Do I Go for Court?

There are two types of courts that handle cases in Madison County.

districtcourtDistrict Court is the court of limited jurisdiction and handles juvenile matters, city and county ordinances, misdemeanors, violations, traffic offenses, probate of wills, arraignments, felony probable cause hearings, small claims involving $2,500 or less, civil cases involving $5,000 or less, voluntary and involuntary mental commitments and cases relating to domestic violence and abuse.

Circuit Court is the court of general jurisdiction that hears civil matters involving more than $5,000, capital offenses and felonies, land dispute title cases and contested probate cases.

Family Court as a division of Circuit Court with general jurisdiction, the family court division of Circuit Court further retains primary jurisdiction in cases involving dissolution of marriage; child custody; visitation; maintenance and support; equitable distribution of property in dissolution cases; adoption; and, termination of parental rights. In addition to general jurisdiction of Circuit Court, the family court division of Circuit Court, concurrent with the District Court, has jurisdiction over proceedings involving domestic violence and abuse; the Uniform Act on Paternity and the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act; dependency, neglect, and abuse; and, juvenile status offenses.

2017 Detention Visit ArticleVisits are scheduled by the inmates gender and the first letter of the inmates last name. All visitors are expected to follow the visitation rules and keep their children under control at all times. Failure to do so will result in the visitor being escorted from the premises. During visitation, visitors may leave money, or buy phone cards for inmates. All visitation for Class-D Work Release inmates should contact Tami Allen at (859)624-4710.

Female Inmates

For female inmates with the last name of A - K, visits are scheduled for Monday or Saturday 9:00AM - 2:00PM
For female inmates with the last name of L - Z, visits are scheduled for Thursday or Sunday 9:00AM - 2:00PM
Each inmate is allowed 1 visit per week. The week starts on Saturday and ends on Friday.

Male Imates

For male inmates with the last name of A - K, visits are scheduled for Tuesday 12:00PM - 3:00PM or Saturday 6:00PM - 9:00PM
For male inmates with the last name of L - Z, visits are scheduled for Wednesday 12:00PM - 3:00PM or Sunday 6:00PM - 9:00PM
Each inmate is allowed 1 visit per week. The week starts on Saturday and ends on Friday.

2017 Detention Hours ArticleThe Detention Center is a 24-hour operation that has office hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m. with a 24 hour window in the rear of the building at door 068. Business Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

The front office is open to buy phone cards and leave money. The office does not accept personal checks. They accept cash or money orders only. After hours, to purchase phone cards or leave money for an inmate, please go to door 068 at the rear of the detention center. It is possible to place money on an inmates commissary account or to bond an inmate out via the web site: www.tigerdeposit.com.
